What Are The Benefits of Using This Service

Hynes Employment Consulting provides hands on support and advice to small and medium sized companies on all aspects of the recruitment and selection process. Our services can be tailored to suit your organisation's needs with as much or as little involvement in the recruitment and selection process as you require.

Analysing

This is the first step in the recruitment process and is critical to the success of your recruitment campaign as selecting the right person for the job requires a good understanding of the role and what it entails.

Hynes Employment Consulting will assist you to draw up a job description (i.e. key objectives and activities of the role) and person specification (i.e. what skills, qualities, knowledge and experience are required for the role) for your vacancy. The job description and person specification can then be used to screen applications more effectively, determine what questions should be asked at interviews etc.

Sourcing

The public face of the recruitment process begins when you advertise the position. The advertising** medium (newspapers, websites etc) you choose to use for your vacancy will often be determined by the type of business you are in, your location, the nature of the position and level of the role. Your aim at this stage of the process is to attract as many high calibre suitable applicants as possible thereby increasing your chances of ultimately finding the right person for the job.

Hynes Employment Consulting can provide you with advice on the advertising medium best suited to your vacancy as well as advice on the use of recruitment agencies and web-based recruitment tools.

**It is important to remember that all advertising whether print or web-based must comply with the Employment Equality Acts 1998 and 2004.

Screening

It is important that the screening criteria used are fair, non-discriminatory and applied consistently to all applicants. Hynes Employment Consulting will work with you to develop a list of screening criteria appropriate to your vacancy.

We will conduct screening interviews on you behalf and provide you with a short-list of candidates who most meet your requirements – giving you the time to get on with running your business.

Interviewing

This is usually the last major step in the recruitment and selection process and is central to the final decision. Good recruitment decisions will have ongoing positive effects on your organisation while poor decisions are difficult to rectify and can have far reaching negative effects on your company such as low morale, reduced productivity etc. It is therefore critical that your interviews are of a high standard.

Hynes Employment Consulting will work with you to determine which competencies (i.e. characteristics which are required to be effective in a role e.g. technical skills (knowledge), performance skills and attributes) are essential and desirable for your vacancy and provide you with an interview framework which can be used to determine applicants suitability based on objectively assessing their skills and experience.

We also participate on interview panels/boards. This can be beneficial in cases where the other members of the interview panel are inexperienced or where an impartial interviewer is required for example in the case of internal promotions.

Interview Training

Interview training is an essential part of successful interviewing and enables interviewers to question and evaluate candidates in a fair, consistent and objective way.

We will then provide competency based interview training to managers and supervisors involved in the recruitment process. This will ensure that candidates are assessed in a fair and consistent manner.

Reference Checking

Although a candidate's skills may have been assessed objectively during the recruitment process, the accuracy of some of the information supplied by the candidate must be independently verified. This is achieved by conducting reference checks. References can be work related or academic depending on how much experienced the individual is.

Hynes Employment Consulting are happy to conduct reference checks on your behalf.
